    Best Crappie Lake/Guide Recommendations???

My father in law wants to go on a guided crappie trip. I would like to book a full day trip and show him a good time. Would you have any recommendations for a good lake and guide service? Thanks!

Sam Rayburn would be a good lake. Can't help you on the guide.

Somerville used to be pretty good for crappie. I don't know if it still is or anyone who guides. You might call one of the marinas to get a recommendation as to a guide. We used to have an older guy here in Brenham who would guide for basically the cost of gasoline to get there and back. He was retired and did not need the money, he just loved to fish and put other people on fish.

Lake Fork, and do some bartering with Slew (if he guides).

Big Crappie.Com had good reviews online. I was checking around before I posted here. I have never been to any of these lakes myself. I like the looks of Rayburn, Toledo Bend and Fork and have heard a lot about them. It looks like Rayburn is the closest to me. Might have a chance at some good bass too? Now for the Guide...

Plenty of good ones on Rayburn. I fish it all the time. Crappie have been shallow around Townsend lately. A buddy and 2 others caught 3 limits yesterday in 2 foot wading. A lot of good guides out of Jackson Hill

For crappie, fork is near the top. Don’t know if slew guides, but there’s an option. Or call Billy Rushing

Can't help there. Mark Standridge would be a good one on Fork, Palestine, or Tawakoni. Chris Webb or Lane Palmer would be who I called on Cedar Creek. Don't know anybody on Rayburn or Toledo. But Rayburn is full of crappie that's for sure!!

How is his health ? Conroe has good fish but gets rough in the afternoon I he has back pain or disability in any ways. Other than that Conroe has great fishing

Health isn’t too bad. Just a pot belly. I would prefer no chop. I’ve never targeted Crappie, but from what I’ve seen, you are jigging and using live minnows. I don’t think it would be too fun in rough water.
I’m still trying to convince him to look further North. He thinks Rayburn and Toledo are too far of a drive.

                            Thanks for all the input!

Looks like some hybrids are being caught on Conroe too. That would be fun, just have to catch it on a calm day.
