Long time ago, I was managing an electronics store near Nassau. Very nice gentlemen comes in with ad in hand looking for a Technics turntable on sale. Got him hooked up with table and better stylus. Gave me his gold Amex. Name on it was Neil Armstrong. I asked if the moon was really made of cheese. He didn't laugh.

Know Tracy Byrd pretty well now, he is on Young Life committee here in Beaumont and I am a leader here and his son was one of our consistent kids to come weekly. Grew up watching Jay Bruce play high school ball and still know him today. And I didn't meet him nor cared to but I did get to watch TGI Fridays kick Charlie Sheen out haha

I worked in bars/restaurants/hotels for too long and have seen too many to count but have some memorable ones.

One afternoon in college we headed to 6th street to meet some friends that went to UT. We hit a bar waiting for the UT guys to finish up class. Early afternoon. We sit down and one of my buds (were all from Houston) points at the bar and Earl Campbell is sitting alone drinking a pitcher of beer.

We decide to leave him alone, he has to get constantly bothered by everyone while he is out. We decide to buy him his next pitcher so we can make the story a little better. We tell the waitress to take him one from us. She sets it down and he turns around, we wave, he gives us a head nod.

About 2 minutes pass and he starts walking to our table with the pitcher still full. We all freeze thinking we ****** him off. Gets to the table and says:

"Guys I appreciate the beer but the only way I am going to drink any of it is if I can sit down and drink it with y'all."

        "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok?"

He grabs a chair and introduces himself to each of us like we didn't know who he was. He was just being normal. Talked a lil football. It was pretty apparent he didn't want to talk about football too much so we started telling jokes and general BS. Pretty funny dude. A couple pitchers later he gets up and says he has to go. Shook all of our hands and says nice meeting y'all & have fun tonight.

You win Salth20. That pic with legendary Buck Medley should be framed on your wall somewhere.

He wore his NFL Hall of Fame gold coat to the casino every night. The first night, he was playing alone and betting pretty big money. I suppose everyone was scared to mess up his game, but I sat down at the table and he was as nice a guy as you'd meet. Every night thereafter went about the same. Other than congratulating him on the HOF, I never made a comment about football and I'm sure he appreciated the fact that I wasn't a jock sniffer and just wanted to play some cards. I don't remember a lot of details, but I do remember making a pile of money with Mr. Allen that week while playing Blackjack. The only time I've ever won money on a cruise ship.
Royal Caribbean cruise? Yep, I was on the same one and I remember he did wear his HOF jacket every night. The cruise went over NYE. NYE party was fun.

                        Bum Phillips - great man
Several Astronauts - all great people,
Most impressed with Clay Anderson and John Young, one very outgoing, the other quiet and reserved.
Gene Kartz(sp) and Dr. Chris Craft, Flight Directors - very impressive, when they talk, everyone listens.

When I was around 10'ish, my mom worked on movie sets in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Just being around the film productions, I got to hang out with Corey Feldman and Corey Haim for a couple of days. They were both horrible. Just complete pricks. Also got to spend a day with Drew Barrymore (she was really young then) and she was very nice. Like any other kid. Met Jacklyn Smith (of Charlie's Angels), but I was a little kid and didn't know anything about her. My mom was actually really good friends with JT Walsh (Few Good Men) and I have a picture of him cooking me breakfast in our kitchen.

A friend of mine is a very successful event planner and she won the bid on the Nike SuperBowl Party when the Panthers played the Patriots. At that event I met:

Roy Williams (Longhorn WR) - Was a pretty nice guy, it was right before he was drafted.
Larry Fitzgerald - Very nice, very approachable. Talked with me for over an hour.
                            Jerry Rice - Total jerk.
Marshall Faulk - Looked like a completely normal guy. I told him I was certain I could tackle him and he invited me to try. I did not.

Tone Loc showed up to one of our post parties in a hotel down in Padre once. Everyone was completely tanked and he just walked in. The next morning as we were piecing everything together, one of my buddies sheepishly asked if he was just imagining it or did Tone Loc show up and we all remembered at once. Pretty funny stuff, don't recall if he was nice or not.

There are more I'm just not remembering, but I'm not a star chaser, so I don't usually go out of my way to talk to people, even if they're famous.
