I recently learned that the Amish are big into raising trophy deer in small pens and filling orders for ranches. Example: Hey, I need a mainframe 12 typical that scores 220 or higher. Ok, we've got that. Deer get kicked out of the trailer and given a few weeks to go "wild". Hunter drives/flies in and shoots him.

The Amish invented this craze I do believe.. I've heard about them farming and selling giant deer for years.

First Kieth Warren deer farming. What a bunch of BS. Is Texas deer hunting really headed this way? Why not just order what you want from Amazon. Mother Nature has nothing to do with those pen raised things. Wonder if he likes cage free eggs and non-genetic altered chicken and produce?

Second Gun Werks. I guess if you can't use Amazon and you can't learn to hunt you get a gun and shoot from a half mile. Really. If you want to long range shoot go to a range. Show the game enough respect to at least try to hunt.

Okay I'm done. Hope the weather breaks so I can go fishing.
Hope all is well besides the weather! Nasty weather for sure!! Launched on the boat yesterday and it was brutally cold to say the least. We had ice starting to form on the boat while driving it to the ramp. Toes felt like they were going to freeze over once we got on the water and running.

How is the fishing out there this time of the year?? Want to take the Hobie out in the salt soon.

There's a thread here on TBH with a cooler full of nice small slot drum. I'm headed to fish camp this week, if you're off come on down. Dunno if there's fish to be had but you can always blast some hogs.

                        This^

Shooting at animals at that distance is about showing off and/or proving to yourself how good a marksman you are. It is not about hunting.

I have hunted the mountainous west all my life. It is no more difficult to get within 300 yards of your quarry than it is to get within 1000.

Tens of thousands of animals are taken by archery tackle each year (including the ones we take). Those are generally taken between 10 and 60 yards.

Having typed my rant, I won’t condemn a man for taking a legal shot. Just don’t try to argue that a 1000 yard shot is about hunting or humane take. It is hoping to punch a tag while you get some target practice in...

call, email their sponsors. boycott the products. Keith needs to be penned. and "hunting" at a thousand yards ain't Hunting ! These two topics do more damage to our sport than all the others combined.

unless it is prairie dogs, then it is just target practice with some eradication side effects...... sure at one point in my life i wanted to see how far i could kill a deer,,, now it's how close can i get,,, twice i have been close enough to touch a wild deer by hand,,,, yep, i am a hunter and i like it that way
