Golf cart to hunting buggy advice

    Alright guys,
I have a golf cart that needs new batteries and i was thinking instead of just getting the cheap ole batteries that need to be replaced every few yrs i might as well make this a hunting rig. I have seen a lot of post where people have converted these to pretty slick machines and have done some research on what needs to be done. From what i can find it sounds like at minimum i will need to change the normal 3 HP engine to a 9 HP, upgrade the amp controller, upgrade the leaf springs and last install lift and tires. Now my question for the people that have done this. How much can i expect this to set me back so i know if i am getting taken to the cleaner or not? Also, how hard are the leaf springs and lifts to install on these things as i think i should be able to do that myself?

I would like the end product to look like the picture.

My 4 inch lift was easy to install. I got it with my cart. I am putting a 6 inch on it now that season is over. I went with Duracell batteries from Batteries Plus and do not really know any difference between them and Trojans brand. I got a set of 23x10 tires and rims from Houston Golf Cart for $300. They do run a little bit hence the need for the 6 inch lift. I also had to put 1 inch spacers on it to keep the tires from hitting the frame when I turn. The windshield was about $79 twice. I blew the first on off at 85 mph. Lesson learned. It is a blast and would do it again.

I haven't done any upgrades to mine for performance, only the lift and bumper/basket. I do plan on eventually upgrading motor, cables, and controller. This is a hunting machine.

I did one before I bought a side by side. Electric is quite, no odor and plenty of torque. But gas is the way to go. Don’t have to charge batteries or worry about them running down while out cruising. Plus the additional cost of replacing every few years. Mine was a club car, 6”lift custom wheels and tires, winch, flip seat, windshield, gun racks, top , fold down windshield. You can dump a lot of $$$ into these, but they are fun. I can’t believe some of the places I went. But, they are not an off road vehicle and can be fragile if mis handled

                    Diy

Here's mine. Done all the work myself. Made the tarp, seat covers, doors, put a lift kit on, light, hitch for road feeder, custom rattle can paint job.

                    I would still PM bowslayer

Don't do it if u hunt in rocky or hill country areas
Golf carts don't mix with that terrain
                      Been there

Make sure you start with either a series cart or a newer ez go D.C. Cart. Sepex can be ok when upgraded but series works a lot better for buying setups. The newer DC 48 volt exhort carts say 2011 and newer are great carts when stock for hunting carts.

You just answered my question. I was thinking a 48V might work.
