      I don't think that's an otter but I do think it's a Coatimundi.

          Beaver

You should see tree damage in the area if I’m right.

The base of the tail looks like a beaver, maybe the end of the tail turned up sideways. Looks too low in the butt to be a coati, they're all hind end.... I never been that close to an otter on dry land...

Not likely to find an otter that far from water... I'm still thinking coati...

I am going to retract my beaver guess, and go with a possum. I think I see a thumb on that back foot.

When nutria get older their tales do thicken out. We have had them at our feeders that r close to tanks in Bastrop county at night. Use to get $10 dollars a piece for them. But I definitely cant say what that is. Looks like one maybe. Good Luck.

Otter. I'd bet he's been cleaning up the fish in the tank nearby.

Ain't no way it's a possum or nutria... Neither of those have a hairy tail... that sucker's tail is hairy enough to be a coon tail except no perceivable rings... some coati's have rings and some don't... Plus looking carefully at the front end of the animal, it appears there are lighter colored markings similar to the LDP I posted...
