DapperDan.....I would tell you to go to St. John's but it was wiped out by the Hurricane. My Wife and I were fortunate enough to have made the trip a year before the storm crushed it. St. John's was beautiful. Great beaches all around the island. You may want to look in to Roatan as well. Small place. Secluded.

I just came back from San Pedro a few weeks ago. We stayed at Banyan Bay. It was ok, but I’d stay somewhere else next time. Victoria House is supposed to be one of the top resorts there.
We rented a golf cart for the 5 days we were there. When your taxi picks you up at the airport just ask him to stop on the way to your resort to rent your cart. He will know where take you to get a good rate. We paid about $225 for the 5 days.
The food there is good but nothing really to excited about though.
Make sure you go to Wahoos for the chicken drop. I think it’s on Thursday night.

As far as fishing, we did two trips, one deep sea. I wouldn’t do it again. we just didn’t catch a lot of fish. It was a perfect day to be out there though.
The other trip was in shallower water inside the barrier reef. We caught a lot of small snapper and grouper. We dove for conchs, caught lobsters, swam with a manatee and fed the tarpon. Then had lunch on the beach. The guide made fresh ceviche. And grilled the conch, fish, and lobster. It was great. Oh and rum punch too...
We fished both days with Robert Bradley, the Bradley’s are supposed to be some of the top fishing guides there.

We went to Caye Caulker one day, take a ferry boat across. We enjoyed hanging out at the split while there. Don’t leave too early in the morning to go though because there isn’t a whole lot to do there. But I enjoyed it and would go back.

I went in 01 just for the diving which is awesome except for the blue hole I thought that was completely boring. Lighthouse Reef, Half Moon Caye, Glovers Reef, and Turneffe were really great though most of these are or can be advanced dives. We stayed a a little place on the beach called The Blue Tang and really liked it, the girl at the front desk would put a case of Beliken local beer in our fridge every day for when we got back from diving. I'm not sure if this is still true or not but back then Jerry Jeff Walker owned a house in San Pedro and he happened to be there when we were he spent most of the day and into the night at a little bar called Sharkey's. The girls went to the main land to see the ruins and they went to some spa in the jungle. All in all Belize has been one of my favorite places mainly because of the diving and it was one of the cheapest places we have ever been.

10 days is too looong for a honeymoon. Make it 5.

Victoria House for sure. I've been 2x and it's the best lodging/resort hands down.
Book the Bradley brothers for a fishing trip...Roberto was the best

I don't think the Blue Hole is worth it from a land base. I thought it was a boring dive, but then we had been diving the outer islands the first half of the week.

Lamanai, referenced by BitBackshot, is totally worth the trip to get there. No where near as crowded as many of the other ruin complexes.

Zip lining and cave tubing are both lots of fun.

This I completely agree with. Our honeymoon was 7 days in Aruba and by day 4 I was bored out of my mind.

Geez - reading through some of this was brutal.

I look forward to going, and there are some great threads to read up on and see beautiful pictures of.

And if you're bored on your Honeymoon by day 4, you might not be doing it right ...

I get what you're saying, but Aruba is basically a small desert island with good snorkeling and nothing else. I don't do "lay around on the beach all day" well. Places like Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii, the BVIs, have a lot more activities to offer. Can do jungle, beach, mountain, etc. Aruba had "sand" and casinos with terrible odds.

+1 on 10 days being too long.... 5 is the sweet spot. We stayed at Thatch Caye. The owner is a Texas boy and his two manager that live on the island are southerners (Georgia). Thatch Caye is an island 30min boat ride off the coast. Fly fishing with Blue Horizons was a blast. We caught a lot of bonefish on the fly.

+1 on Belize being a dump on the coast. Stay on an island away from that mess. The water is why you're there.

San Pedro is a little 3rd world but the resorts are nice and the people are nice.

Take fishing gear. We stayed at Captain Morgans which is close to Coco Beach. I caught barracuda, snapper, and bonefish from the beach in front of our resort.

"Man we went to a third world country and outside of the resort we stayed at it was a dump"

I seriously don't understand some peoples expectations.

OP, go and just let all expectations or worries out the door. You will have a good time. Part of the attraction to places like Belize is being care free while you're there. Another benefit is the appreciation you'll gain for the life you have here.

So, who’s been and what can you tell us. Activities we are looking into are an archeological cave tour, Mayan ruin, zip lining, fishing the flats being a must as well as snorkeling, and possibly scuba diving as well as off shore/reef fishing.

Any other activities that are a must or we’ve over looked? Planning on staying at the coco beach resort on San Pedro. Food/drink cost around the area? Info on activities listed? Your knowledge is needed and appreciated!

We spent ours there and loved it. Spent a few days first in the jungle at chaa creek. And the last few days on the island at Victoria House. It was a great mix of activities, with beach bum life.
