Not really but, all his airbags deployed. Neighbor saw him walk away, come back and then take off running.

Yah, me too. I'm glad he didn't have a ranchhand up front. It probably would've cut my poor tree in half...

He clipped two of my neighbors cars before installing my new side gate.[emoji22] That probably slowed him down a bit too.

This happen on the main road of my neighborhood in front of a TBH’ers house. Ford dually hit the tree, so far the tree is still alive.

you have coverage for trees due to non-owned autos if you have a regular homeowners policy.

There may be special limits that apply.

The fencing and tree damage may get to your deductible amount (if the guy is not insured).

I would wait until you hear from his carrier before you file a claim with your insurance.

They catch the driver or was it a stolen truck? Hope they got the guy and it’s his adjuster coming to look at your damage and you’re not having to use your own insurance. I would agree that you have a claim on the tree, a replacement in that size would be quite expensive.

Not stolen, surprisingly! It is insured and have been in contact with his ins. No way I'm contacting my own insurance...unless I really have to. [emoji106]

When in news biz, once heard deputy radio transmission via scanner: "be advised, vehicle versus tree."

                  Another time: "vehicle versus cow."

Any chance this happening again? Should you install pipe bollards behind the fence in your yard.

                      That could have been bad.

Hopefully not. This is the first time it has happened in the 25 years I've been here. Although, there has been a significant increase in traffic on this street in the past few years. Mainly due to new homes and a couple large apartment complexes being built nearby. Also, a new street was recently built 2 blocks away connecting my street to a major highway. [emoji34]
Thanks for the idea...I'm certainly going to consider it.

Being an Arborist in a very populated area and working for several large HOA's, I deal with and see this quite a bit. That Live Oak "Should" heal and show no I'll effects. DO NOT use any form of pruning seal and let Mother Nature heal herself. Keep that area watered this Spring as the tree molts and puts on new leaves. You will most likely lose more bark than what's missing in the picture. Live Oaks are fairly insect-resistant; however, I would pick up some Systemic Insecticide and apply it now. You can buy a product at Home Depot or Lowes, called, Bayer Tree and Shrub in s blue container in granular form.
