    What have you done.........??

To get your wives more interested in the great outdoors? My wife likes to go camping, but that is the extent of it. We have some family land that I hunt on and take the kids out to, but my wife never goes. She tolerates my interest in hunting, archery, and guns, but I cannot seem to get her interested in any of my hobbies. I was thinking about sitting her down and suggesting that I spend some quality time with her doing something she really enjoys and hoping she will return the gesture. Have any of you had to overcome your women's disinterest in your hobbies? If so, what have you done to get them more involved? I love my wife and would love to spend time with her in the outdoors, but she is just really opposed to it. She did not grow up around these things. She also hates my camo, but at least doesn't say anything about it.

I bought my wife a cross bow and get her to practice with it while I practice with my bow......She only wants to hunt though when I have a big mature buck coming into my set up.....She hunted a lot last year, but only a few times this year.....

My wife was pretty much a vegetarian when we met. She helped me make jerky yesterday! When she saw how consumed I am with bowhunting she decided to have an open mind. She's got a bow now and I hope she gets some more hunting time in next year. It's hard right now with a 7 year old at camp.

Start out easy and go camping/hiking or something. Do a photography hunt with no weapons.

My wife and I watch football together, go to movies, take trips, play games, and other stuff together. She's not interested in hunting, and I'm not interested in shopping. If we did everything together, we'd probably kill each other.

I told mine almost 19 years ago when we met, that I hunt and fish, so if she had a problem with either, then we wouldn't work out. I got her into fishing with me very soon after that. I bought her, her own stuff and everything I purchased after that, I always bought two of. She is my best friend and my fishing buddy.

She loves to eat wild game but doesn't have it in her to kill something. Although I did get her to shoot some beer cans with the shotgun I bought her. Almost had her convinced to shoot a turkey. I did finally get her to sit in a tower blind one year with me at the Hagler ranch on one of the Jay Neuman hunts. I shot a cull buck that evening, as she watched. I don't think she will ever go again, it's just not her thing. I can live with that, she is one heck of a fisherperson. And she doesn't discourage me from hunting, I just don't ask her anymore.

I bought my wife a new pop up blind, and an AR15... but it doesn't seem to be working.

I think she needs a new over & under silver pigeon V Beretta too... maybe that will get her interested.

I spoke to a developer about building a shopping mall about 100 yards past my furthest sendero. That would be my only hope.

Right now she only comes down during Thanksgiving. She gets there Thursday morning, eats, and heads to Fredricksburg the next morning. She calls it her layover.

It's really hard to get a kitchen pass every time I need one.

Maybe buy her a Polaris Ranger with a fully enclosed cab so her hair doesn't get messed up? A man has got to try!

I've always invited my wife whenever I go hunting to come, regardless if it's elk hunting or getting up at 3 am to duck hunt. I can't get her to come to the archery range more than once every other year to make a guest appearance. When I try to go for a hike (no hunting), she says I don't pay attention and I'm "always looking for pigs and tracks and things in the fields" so she doesn't like to go on local hikes with me now. She says hunting is "my thing" and I share it with my son, which she says is OK.
