hogs jumping the string?

never had one jump the string but had one spin around so fast as an arrow was going through it that it broke my arrow in half. The broadhead half came out but the other half of the arrow was still inside it when I found the hog.

I agree I have never seen the jump the string but they can turn so quick its not funny. I will try to post a pic when I get home with a string turner

they tend to turn as you shoot... or i just suck at bowhunting?

I would just quiet your bow down as much as possible. Doesn't matter to me what you shoot as long as you're bow hunting.

I had it happen this year on a public land hog. Truthfully, I rushed the shot on a nervous pig! He didn't actually duck the shot. Rather, he was quartering away and ran at the shot. The arrow blew right behind him at 30 yards.

1st deer i ever shot at with a bow (from 20 yards) moved incredibly fast and dodged the arrow. I try to get within 10 yards now from my pop-up. Problem solved.
I have never seen a hog even move from the sound of my bow--they actually seem to freeze for a moment at the sound. Of course, that's just my experience. They could be jumpier where there is more hunting pressure, i suppose.

And dont shoot them tight to the shoulder. Quartering away comein behind the last rib 1/3 of the way up the body on height. Hardly any fat to clog the entrance hole and liver leaves a good trail of blood. I shoot them all this way and find most all of them.

I'm working on posting a video of hogs jumping the string. It still ended up with the pig losing, but they definitely flinched - and I don't shoot a loud, or slow, bow. It seemed to have more to do with high hunting pressure. They don't seem to duck (or coil up) like a deer, mainly just haul tail. The sow I shot turned and rolled to leave at the sound of the release causing the arrow to enter real low and exit higher on the opposite shoulder. Unlucky for her, she turned a double lung shot into a heart shot!

I have one on video that drops almost a foot, with a 25 yd shot. The arrow struck the pig just below the spine and we never found him. In the slow motion footage you can see the hog drop just like a deer.
