Africa is my favorite place I've hunted and it's worth every penny. It's an addiction and I can't wait to go back. One of the biggest misconceptions about hunting Africa is often said by those that haven't hunted it "it's cheap". Sure you can kill some really nice animals for great prices, but once you finally get those animals on your wall it is not cheap. My taxidermy bill was about 1/3rd of the total cost of my trip.
This happened in August of this year for under 10K
A all in cost will be difficult, but I will give you the numbers from a hunt this past August.
Hunt $3,950.00
trophy fee: (animals shot over the credit) $1,080.00
dipping $330.00
Crating and documentation fee (split 3 ways ) $159.00
Airfare $1,100.00
Tips, gifts, etc. $400.00
total $7,019.00
subtract $450.00 for TBH special pricing and you are at $6,569.00
Shipping will be between 2 and $400.00 (split 3 ways)
Not sure what taxi plans are, but most likely just euros ( the way you receive them from africa) so all total under 7 grand.
He shot a kudu, impala, Gemsbok.
Could be a little more or less depending on airfare at the time.
Add a zebra, a passport, and a taxidermy bill ( which all need to be added into
My budget) and you are well over $10k.
Hunting(other than public and family land) in general has become outta reach of the middle class man. Goin across the pond to another continent to hunt isn't the exception. Just an opinion

This is true its not "cheap" but its a great deal for the amount of animals taken for the cost. For some reason though Africa is one of the only trips I see people try to include the full taxidermy costs as part of the trip. Heck you don't even get them back across for 6 months then when its all tanned you can mount at your own pace.
If you do include mounts as part of the cost I think I came right around $1k an animal. Thats including wall pedestals for kudu and gemsbok, floor pedestal sable, regular shoulder mount warthog and eland, and a full zebra rug. Thats not shopping around on taxidermists as I knew who I wanted to do it.

Hope I can make it happen some day
Wall pedestals and a full zebra rug would add about $1k per animal. The thing is just getting them back is 6months later then mounting another year before they're done if you started right away. Thats pricing using someone reputable here. Couple guys that went with us saved a lot compared to me by getting theirs done there and they seemed happy with it
You sir are dead wrong on this comment. Lot's of animals other than a warty and impala that are not expensive in RSA. But to each his own, you do not want to hunt Africa, that is fine, but do not tell others it is not worth it when you have never been!
Having been to Africa 6 times myself, I agree with Mudslinger on this. Africa comparatively is still the best value in any hunting destination. There is so much variety of species to pursue, it can thoroughly enjoyed on nearly any budget. You don't have to hunt big ticket animals, and you don't have to mount every animal you take to enjoy an African hunting safari.
My last 2 safaris have basically been "management hunts" for the plainsgame that we took. Many outfitters will happily put together packages to include the lesser priced animals and any combination of non-trophy and cull animals making it a really good value. You can shoot a lot of arrows for not a lot of money if you take advantage of these options.
It is definitively something you should research. You might be pleasantly surprised at how far your money will go on an African safari. And, I promise your wife will love the experience even as a non-hunter.
Ahhhhh.......so airline tickets, a passport (which is dirt cheap), taxidermist and souvenirs are supposed to be part of the price..........lmao!!!! All inclusive resort trips don't cover souvenirs and passports.. Come on MAN!!!!

Play it how you please - if it comes from my checking acct and is part of the expense from the time I leave home to the time my trophy’s are hung on the wall it IS part of the expense of the trip.
SERIOUSLY, some of you need to look at the "cost per animal" in relationship to trophy hunts over here in the states.
What will it cost you for a trophy whitetail, like a B&C whitetail, or a 350"+ elk or any of the sheep hunts.
Almost everyone of my animals I have taken in RSA qualify for SCI and some in the Top 15 and a couple in the Top 10! Show me where you can do this in the states!
I have had them scored, but I am not going to enter them, just my position on this.
