I guess I'm the odd man out that would rather spend money fishing!! Might take momma somewhere cool to flyfish before too long and Alaska is on the list too. On my own maybe a guys trip to Guatemala for sailfish and I'm headed to Grenada Lake for a couple days this spring to chase slabs. I would like to go stick some Africa critters some day but my wife has no interest what so ever in ever leaving the states.

Actually I would LOVE to go and I am not sure where you saw me say it wasn’t worth it. If it is a priority and you make it happen, then it is absolutely worth it. I maintain that $10k is about the least you can expect to spend on a hunting trip to Africa if you actually kill stuff and you include every cost involved

don't borrow the money, but definitely don't pass up the chance to go.

Just got our trophies back from our first trip last week and booked our next Africa hunt for next june as well.

You can spend as much or as little as you want, but the cost of the animals will likely be the least expensive part of the entire trip.

          Save up and go!

Just curious, which 4 animals would be on your list?

I'm with you!!! I love to bow hunt but am a fisherman first. I fly out the 17th for key west Goliath grouper and sail fish.

I went in 2007, never said that was airfare or taxidermy. Back then a trophy Kudu was $750 and Gemsbock and Hartebeast were $350 each so yes I did it for that. Family ranch book directly with the owners no middle men or booking agents. Look up Astra Safaris in Namibia, Stephen Goldbeck runs the place now, i hunted with him and his father at the time.

Kudu - Gemsbok - Zebra - The 4th would be a toss up but could be as inexpensive as an impala and as high as a sable

Sorry if I misquoted you. I apologize. Lots of critters to kill that are not expensive on the trophy fees and some are actually harder to kill than some of the more expensive critters.
I have killed several animals in the top 15 and top 10 of SCI, and they cost me a heck of a lot less than what it would take to kill anything in the US to do the same. And that is including everything to get there and back.

Airfare and taxidermy is a BIG part of the expenses these days

Unfortunately or maybe fortunately however you want to look at it, the 2 animals that top my list right now are a Cape Buffalo and a Sable both with a bow, not necessarily a cheap affair! A few others are on my list, but those are an afterthought until I kill the previously animals mentioned.
