bumping this 2 year old thread. Always enjoy hearing opinions from everyone. Maybe previous posters changed their mind?

Fifteen years ago I was all about quantity, I enjoyed putting meat on the table with my bow any chance I got. Since then I've been more focused on seeing quality deer but now that my kids are old enough to hunt with me I don't mind having the numbers for them to have the opportunities. Our family ranch has gone from seeing 10-15 deer per sit with an average buck score of 100 inches to now seeing 3-5 deer per sit with bucks going over 150 in.

Guess if I had to choose it would be quantity. Smart pretty much nailed it

Where I hunt if I see a deer it’s a dang good hunt! If I could see 4-5 every hunt that would be a dream come true.

I'll take quality over quantity. I don't care to see 20 dinks on a hunt for the sake of seeing 20.

There is such thing as quality and quantity just so very few low fence ranches have that . But I definitely like going and seeing some deer at least . Seeing goose eggs every set will definitely make ya want to stay at the house.

I prefer to see deer when I hunt. I enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy shooting them so I may be different than most. I like the numbers with a chance at decent sized deer opportunities. I don't have to see a monster to have a good hunt nor do I get too hung up on "score" like some. I'd just like a shot or two at a decent deer sometime during the season. But for the most part I enjoy the sitting out in nature watching them and relaxing. Luckily I have that at my current place.

Same here. I hated hunting North Texas. All that time and effort getting your stands set up and if we saw one deer it was a good hunt.

I hunt 100 days per year. I get bored if I’m not seeing anything. Sometimes I get tired of watching the same old does, fawns and dink bucks but it beats the heck out of seeing nothing.

Quality for me. I love the borderline heart attack feeling I have once every year or two when an old giant shows up during daylight. I have places to hunt that I see deer every sit. I enjoy seeing deer, I LOVE having a shot at a giant.

I like seeing deer. And I really enjoy a good buck to doe ratio that keeps the bucks rolling during the rut.
Luckily our lease has a very upper end of 160, but we see 10-15 deer a hunt.
More importantly for me, I see lots of other game that keep me entertained.
Turkeys, coyotes, bobcats, javelina, badger, pigs, etc.

Our place in central Texas only has deer and hogs, but the very upper end after 35 years is approx 140.

So I guess I guess I like to see a lot of nice deer, even if a true book deer is not a possibility

After sitting here watching the sunset on 10 deer in this field, I'm absolutely quantity over quality. I was going back and forth when I started this thread, but reading the responses has solidified it even more. I'll definitely be looking for a lease a little more sw than grayson county next year.
