I've been very lucky to find a few spots with both that are within 1 hour of the house. From the ages of about 17-24 I hunted in Llano and then Comanche and would see tons of deer every sit and only killed 2 doe the whole time, I was just never interested in killing to kill and nothing big enough to put on the wall ever walked out. I just loved to go to the lease and cookout and drink and hang out so it wasn't a big deal.

After I had kids my free time really diminished and luckily I was able to find a spot right down the road and another within an hour that both have great deer and I always see at least a handful.

Quantity has it's place for sure, especially as I am getting my boys into the stand more and more, they need action! and before Llano I hunted a spot in Athens and neither me or dad ever saw a deer all year, that sucked!

I prefer to see deer when I hunt. I enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy shooting them so I may be different than most. I like the numbers with a chance at decent sized deer opportunities. I don't have to see a monster to have a good hunt nor do I get too hung up on "score" like some. I'd just like a shot or two at a decent deer sometime during the season. But for the most part I enjoy the sitting out in nature watching them and relaxing. Luckily I have that at my current place.
Yep... did it for 3 years in Hamilton.

Quality for sure! We hunt on a very good East Texas lease, I love sitting in a tree trying to kill an old giant with my bow.

Quality over quantity any day! I'd rather see nothing than to see a bunch of small deer all day.

Both are good. I go out to Brady once a year, and the deer dang near chase the truck when you run the road feeder. That's pretty cool, but after awhile it's like "oh look, 10 more deer just came out". I've been hunting in northeast Texas for the last three days, and it's been super tough. Yesterday evening I got to watch 2 does and I was excited about it. So there's also something to be said about having to wait the deer out.

Quality all the time for me. If I kill one great buck every 3-5 years, I am happy. Success isn’t measured in quantity for me at this point. It’s about time outdoors with friends/family and outsmarting a big old buck.

If it isn't something I'm going to shoot I really don't care if I see it or not. I'm a quality person myself and haven't killed a deer since 2011 because of it.

That said, I wouldn't mind having a side place to shoot does on. Not enough where I hunt for me to shoot them.

Anyone have experience or know how the hunting will he in or around bowie tx? Just got a lease 12 miles south of bowie and I've never hunted that part of Texas before

All I need is one deer, the right deer.

Quantity or quality? Hmmm... I would take either at this point.

I prefer seeing more deer. I have two deer leases in East Texas and one in West Texas. I enjoy all of them, and have the potential for a great buck at all of them. However in East Texas I can hunt and not see a deer at all. That can get boring real quick. The hunts are more enjoyable just having deer to look at even if I'm not shooting them. I've never hunted my lease out west and not seen several deer.
