Your prayers are working! You are part of an amazing recovering for a little girl whom for all practical purposes should not even still be with us. Some updates on Lily for those who are lifting her up in prayer.

                    Second MRI Results
Journal entry by Steve Stigall — 12/9/2017

Kathy and I walked away from our meeting with the Neurologist this afternoon almost speechless, but not surprised. The feedback he shared was incredible. The doctor was somewhat perplexed as he examined the second MRI and compared it to the first.

The first thing he communicated was "meaningful" improvement in the most significantly injured area of Lily's brain. In a short 5 day span, her two MRI's were notably different. There is still some visible damage to the innermost parts of Lily's brain, but there was a clear improvement between these to MRI's. The doctor was so encouraged by what he saw. He shared that the results of the MRI today changed the tone of what he expected to talk with us about. This news is simply incredible. I believe the Lord is hearing and answering the thousands upon thousands of prayers that are being lifted up on Lily's behalf. He listens to the cries of his children. The Lord is showing his power and mercy in how he is healing and restoring Lily right before our eyes. Keep going Lord! Don't stop Lord!

The second thing he shared was concerning. There is an area in her cortex (outer part of the brain) that is showing some delayed inflammation. This was not on the previous MRI, but was on this one. Very unusual to see this. It is a sign of injury to the brain, but he hopes it should be something that would not be a permanent injury. The fact that it appeared after the initial MRI suggests that it will hopefully heal up in time.

Overall, excellent news. The Doctor reminded us that we are "not out of the woods yet" on brain injury. However, he seemed optimistic and hopeful for her health.

Lily has spent all afternoon connected to the breathing machine, but breathing on her own. Over the last 10 hours, she had one episode of apnea where she paused her breathing for 10 seconds or so and the machine kicked on. Not a major concern, but something we want to disappear once she's off the machine. Pray for this.

Praise God for all that he is doing among us! Let God get all the glory for what is taking place in Lily's life.

Please pray for a restful night with excellent breathing for Lily. Pray for continued miraculous healing in Lily's brain. Pray mostly for Lily as they plan to take off the ventilator tomorrow in hopes that she takes over and excels in breathing with no support. We are anxious about this!

                    Love you all,
                    Steve and Kathy

                    Extubation - Part 2
Journal entry by Steve Stigall — 17 hours ago

Lily had a very restful night and maintained great breathing rhythms throughout the evening. The doctors were so pleased with her that they made the decision to remove the breathing tube for the second time.

Around 11 AM, they removed the breathing tube and Lily began breathing all by herself. She has continued breathing all by herself all afternoon. She has spent a lot of the time awake and looking around, some of the time she has rested. Right now she's doing amazing.

We are so proud of this little warrior. Thank you Lord for all you've done and continue to do.

Please pray that Lily would continue to grow stronger with each passing day. Pray that she would have no issues with apnea or seizures. Pray for Lily to remain calm as she emerges from the remaining sedation. Pray that we would be thrilled with Lily's functioning as she comes out of the fog of a week under sedation.

                    Love you all,

                    Slept like a baby!
Journal entry by Steve Stigall — 48 minutes ago

Lily had a great night last night. At about 11 pm, the nurses rolled her over on her belly and she slept like a baby. Her heart rate slowed down to under 100 bpm (which is a healthy heart rate for a 15 month) and her breathing seemed effortless. Praise the Lord!

We have witnessed so many miracles in the past week! Our God is infinite - He has no limits in his person or power. We are thanking our Father for all the miracles he has already done and yet boldly and humbly asking for more.

You guys are making a difference. Please continue to lift up Lily in your prayers.
