I keep the ones I want to eat and the others I "don't find". We can't trap or mass kill them on the Junco, so we do what we can. I've had three big boars bothering me this year. They have become deer chasers. One big brown one cost me my 12 point twice this year when he chased him off. I glad to say, all three of them are no longer with us. I take pics and try and keep the jaws if they're worth it, and then let my brother predators take care of them. Hogs are vermin. They are fun to hunt, but they are uncontrollable. It's my civic duty to kill what I can. KAP

If you can utilize the meat or know someone who can that's great too.
But the most important thing is killing as many of the non-native destructive animals as possible.
One sow usually has a 4 litters of 13 or so a year, so 1=50 a year, those 50 each equal 50 more a year and so on and so on.
No matter how many you shoot, or how you shoot them, you can never really make a difference, but it sure is fun trying.

1 litter every 3 month 33 days, just over 4 months, that would be 3 litters a year in a perfect environment. They do not average having 13 survive out of every litter.
And yes I agree shoot every one you can. We are aving a new house built and have been fortunate enough that if we gut the hog the guys working on the house will take it. When they are gone the meat will disappear somewhere!Last edited by bsills; 01-01-2009, 02:07 PM.
