Question... I’ve been seeing a badger at my place...would be cool to mount one I thought. Do you need to have a trappers license to shoot it and mount it? **** thing is making huge holes all over. Don’t want a cow to step in it...

The rules are if your going to move the animal from the property you must have a Trappers stamp (it looks like a deer license). Also if you’re are going to be a dealer in hides then you must have a license. If you are just selling them you must have a license. The only way you don’t have to have one is if you aren’t moving them from the property. But if you aren’t trapping then no you just can’t move them from where they are. You must possess a trapping license to move the animal from where it was shot, trapped or caught basically.
Here’s the reg.

This document you posted clearly states that "Recreational Harvest" only requires a hunting license and the season runs from September 1 through August 31...
OP, shoot that sucker and get it mounted... just don't sell it!

Well did he give you a ticket? If he did, what was the violation? And did you fight it or just pay up? If so, how much??
Game Wardens are certainly NOT experts on what the actual regulations are, especially if it has something to do with game/fish that is not common in their area of patrol responsibility...
We used to duck hunt on the Rio Grande... Our warden was going to come along on a hunt, but he backed out at the last minute... Said he didn't know one duck from another and he was afraid he'd shoot too many of a particular kind, or mess up in some other way... He didn't know squat about the regs for duck hunting...
