You saw a GW leave a carcass on the side of the road?

I've actually witnessed this a couple times. Once on 380 in Wise County and another time off FM4 in Jack County. Both deer had been laying for a while. They cut the head off and a day later the carcass had been covered with dirt as if a tractor came by. The bucks weren't huge but not small. While purpose was to keep people from stopping/turning around.

I don’t get it, is a buck skull really worth so much you’d cut the head off one laying on the side of the road. I really don’t get it, this just baffles the crap outa me.

Old manager when I worked in Denver was from Iowa and they would carry a battery powered sawsall in their trucks up their this time of year to cut the racks of all the dead deer on the sides of the roads. Good way to make a few extra bucks on the side with minimal effort

Someone else came along later and cut it off. Lots of neiborhood construction happening near our property line. No roads just heavy equipment moving around. Someone must have seen it and cut it off.

Need Game Warden number right now please

Maybe one day the game warden will put his number on the internet so it can be google searched. Until then, thank the lord for TBH!

Maybe folks would like to get first hand knowledge every now and then. Maybe a GOOD GW lives right down the road and I don’t know. It’s nice to get info from people directly instead of google.


Getting kinda frustrated at some of the responses. I asked for some first hand knowledge about any wardens near me with the little knowledge I had about the deer. Seems pretty dang reasonable to call the warden when your gate is plenty far from a road and a buck had his head cut off right by your fence and was left. When someone asks for some help it doesn’t mean they are an idiot.
