    Little fun corn test.

So I found out that I can’t hunt on the property that I’ve hunted on for the last 4 years and decided that I can still have a little fun out there. I’m gonna do a little corn taste test. Have some apple scented mumme’s corn, orange corn, and plain ol deer corn. The feeder has been set up out there for the last 4 years and there are a lot of deer showing up, but only one mature buck that shows up maybe once-twice a week in the middle of the night.

Thinking of putting all of the different types of corn out in rows and seeing if there’s any preference. I was also going to try out rice bran, but nobody has any around here unfortunately. Anything else y’all would like to see tried out? Vanilla corn maybe? I’ve never done the vanilla thing so if anybody wants that, just let me know what ratio to mix it and I’ll give it a shot.

Have a covert camera set up so should be able to tell which pile/piles of corn are eaten first.

Set a pile out by itself and dust it with cinnamon and let me know how it works.
I'm always having fun with corn and scents but just thought about cinnamon today

Not a bad idea. Maybe like cinnamon sugar or straight cinnamon? I was also thinking I should just do 2 at a time and winner moves on. Probably start with regular corn and apple corn and move on from there. Seems like that would be easier to keep up with.

          Just plain cinnamon
And I like the 2 at a time competition

Add a package of jello, multiple flavors to play with.

Negative. It’s in a subdivision in Medina county and I’ve literally only ever had pictures of 2 pigs in the last 4 years there. No livestock either. It’s only deer, raccoons, and foxes. Will most likely get this started Saturday and will try to post as many pics as seem necessary.

Wow that sucks. So you still have access but can’t hunt?

Yes sir. It’s some property that a friend of mine owns. They had an HOA meeting the second weekend of bow season and discussed a new law that had passed down here that basically said no hunting in a subdivision at all anymore. She has 11 acres here and I’ve been fine up until this year. I’m honestly not sure how legit it all is and have asked a sheriffs deputy friend of mine and he can’t really say one way or another bc her property is actually 2 seperate tracts of land (one is 9.75 and the other 1.25 acres). Basically he said that he thinks I would get in trouble bc it’s not one tract of at least 10 acres. Really stinks. This place has been a blast to hunt with great deer numbers.

The saddest part is you’re not allowed to shoot guns in the subdivision at all, but every year I hear countless numbers of rifle shots once the rifle season starts up. And of course once that starts happening, most of the mature deer and especially great up and comers disappear. I’m sure there will still be deer being shot out there, just won’t be by me. I’m very much “by the books”.
