What is silly is if this where a 120 8pt shot, killed and recovered in the exact same way, however that was, the deer would have more than likely never have been confiscated...

Man Christians (I AM one) get so jumpy whenever anything's brought up. Nobody is taking a stab at Christianity, the stabs are at the people who jumped all over this and said it could never be anything illegal because the guy is a Christian. The "knockers" aren't the ones who brought religion into this, it's the defenders that did. You can't bring it up and then complain when others run with it.

Sure is a shame this can't be left alone especially the comments about Christian's being upset! If the deer was shot illegally the man will have enough to deal with other than people on here spreading stuff around non stop! And poached or not a mans faith should not be questioned the good lord didn't make the laws! I don't understand how anyone could bring a mans faith into this situation!

The reason faith is being brought up, is on the earlier threads, all of his "friends" and people that say they know him all had the same story. Everyone said because he is a Christian, he would never break the law. Period end of discussion. That is what they were saying. That is why the Christian remark keeps coming up.



If he shot the deer illegally, then no sympathy for him at all. If he ends up being cleared of any wrongdoing, which I hope he is, then a lot of people will have egg on their face and a lot of people will be able to say I told you so.

But in the meantime, the popcorn is popping

Quite the contrary. As a Christian, I FULLY recognize the fallibility of man... even of a strong Christian man and brother, like Travis, that has repeatedly been a mentor, brother and advocate to so many when they've been at their lowest. I suspect that is why so many will continue to offer love an support for Travis, no matter the outcome of this situation. I don't know the specifics. I can say, with certainty, that there are a lot of folks here that will continue to lift Travis up in prayer and love him through this hardship.

Speculate, if you will, but let's try to keep the intentional misinformation, and even sarcasm, off this discussion.

Yep, the fact that it's a monster makes it a story and the fact that a bunch of people here know the hunter make it a hot button issue.

I have followed along and bit my tongue. I wonder how many state records have been taken by people smart enough to keep their mouth shut?? I feel really bad for this guy. I know that a HUGE number of us have dispatched deer to end a hunt in a humane manner after legal shooting hours. By the rules my dad is a poacher, as I saw him cut the throat on a deer that I spine shot when I was 8 years old. He waited for it to die and finally decided to end its suffering, well after legal shooting hours and not by legal means. Bologna! I agree completely if this was a cull or unremarkable deer nobody would have questioned it.

I also am amazed to see how brethren of the bow are so quick to turn on each other and spew incorrect or unconfirmed information...just don't get it. The facts will speak. There are simply too many variables to judge a man and his character without knowing the details and knowing the facts. Focker out!

I think part of the issue is a lot of folks don't believe the second shot was to humanely dispatch a deer.

Beautiful buck! I had no idea he was killed. He was well-known in our neighborhood as a buck that was 100% nocturnal. I wonder how the hunter got a legal shot off?

Michael, maybe my post was misunderstood. There was a question asked on why the Christian issue kept being brought up. I was stating in the earlier threads, there were a lot of people saying he was a Christian man and would never break the law. That is what was posted. I don't know the man, but from the support of his friends, he sounds like a good person. Like I said in an earlier post, he made either a questionable or bad decision and he is having to deal with it.

I have always wished him the best and hope he gets to keep his deer.
