I think a Toyota Tacoma is a much better ranch vehicle than a jeep, and is a more apples to apples comparison to a Ranger. Has a small bed, is narrow and not overly long, and have great off road capability. I would get a four door Tacoma over a ranger, but would choose a ranger over a jeep.

I've had 2 Jeeps, a Ranger and a Mule. I'd take the Ranger and Mule x 10000 over a Jeep.

Jeeps look cool but as far as being functional on the ranch they suck.

        Agreed.

I also have a tacoma and there aint no way youre putting a family of 5 in that and running to the lease. Unless you dont pack any clothes

It also depends on the terrain of said lease. I cant get the jeep to places I get my ranger. I guess if it was a 'lease jeep' I might but its still not going to be as easy as the ranger.

I know you didn't mention it, but have you thought of a used Grand Cherokee??? Not as cool as a Wrangler, but they are available VERY cheap (resale is nothing like the Wrangler), and the V8 ones tow better than a Wrangler. Just offering a cheaper alternative.

I'll go against the majority and say Ranger. The ability to hop in and out, have the bed to haul gear, etc is what gives the Ranger the edge. Yes heat is nice, but put a windshield on it and its not too bad in the cold, or opt for a full cap enclosure for winter time. Not to mention that I don't believe in driving my means of transport around the lease. If you get a Jeep as mentioned you could drive it to the lease, well what happens if your out and about and break something or have mechanical issues? I dont mind towing my Ranger and that way if something breaks on it or it has issues I can either leave it there if needed, or find a way to get it back on the trailer and haul it back.

I’m looking to sell my 2005 Dodge Power Wagon soon. It will come with a high rack also. Looking to get $9k for it. Would be a perfect lease ride for your family.

Normally fairly rough ride, cant really haul anything without a little basket that nothing fits on, very little power if you have hills, hard to get in and out of the back, folks riding in back seat really cant see anything or roll down a window if it has a top, etc.

I have owned two and they have both been almost worthless.
Ditto. I have a jeep for matti island but I have a ranger as well. If I had to choose, Ranger all day long!

I've had both. Here is my opinion based on my experience.

100% fan of the UTVr. I have a 2014 crew 900. Yes my jeep had doors and an ac/ heater, but this is a hunting vehicle that will be out at the lease or ranch. The more luxuries you have on the vehicle, the more things you have that could go wrong and require repair. When hunting or hanging out around the ranch, I preferred to have no doors on the vehicle. It's a lot easier with the Polaris to jump in, zip around, jump out, jump back in etc. on a well maintained dirt road, no doubt the Jeep will get you from point A to point B quicker, but I assume you will be taking the vehicle off of the road and on Ranch Road that are not maintained by a county. I have he lock and ride windshield on mine and it is plenty to keep the dust out, and wind off your face in the winter. During the summer, I take it off because I like the wind in my face.

You are coming into the perfect time to pick up a Polaris on year end clearance. I drove up to Hoffpauir Motorsports in Brownwood TX to get mine, and saved a lot of money doing so. If you do you go to the Polaris route, there is a guy in Columbus Texas who makes custom roofs for Rangers. Steel all welded and extremely clean. He maid mine (crew size) with a roof rack, 50 in LED bar on the front, welded steel LED bar protector, an 8 in LED bar on the back for a cargo light. I can easily put 12-15 sacks of corn on the roof and stand on it to fill feeders. The LEDs are Chinese brand, but none the less the entire roof with rack and lights cost me $800.00 (I installed myself).

In summary, I will quote the great 'Throwin' Darts' "Ranger and Mule x 10000 over a jeep"
