    Traeger vs Yoder

In the Market for a pellet smoker and would like the GS opinion on which one you would choose and why? Narrowed down to Yoder YS640 and Traeger Timberline 850.

Look at the camp chef pellet smokers. There is a great side by side review on YouTube.

I'm looking as well, I looked at a Pitts and spitts the other day and wow, there are nice. And built in Houston. They are built like a tank, I'm leaning toward one of them.

I'm not sure which companies provide it, but look at a smoker that doesn't cycle smoke. I have a camp chef (might as well be a traeger) and while I love out the only complaint would be that the smoke isn't pouring the entire cook.

Have you put your hands on a Yoder? Once you do the decision will be made. I love my Yoder.

From everything I have seen, Yoder smokers look the be built the best, and they are made from a heavier gauge metal

Yoder looks better built than a traeger. There is one made in Louisiana I think, built line a Yoder but better price.

I have a Smoke Pro and that is my complaint about not enough smoke. I went on line and bought a smoke tube to use with mine, it helps but still not enough smoke for me. Going to order another and run two on my next bisket and butt.

I run an amazen (sp) smoke tube, as well as I sealed my pit with the same liner they use in the egg smokers, and it helps a lot. Smoke still leaks through the lid, but the seal made a noticeable improvement.

Edit: the "seal" is nomex gasket.
