Looks like liver ....maybe, maybe the very back of the lungs. Blood looks dark looks. If it was a lung hit, I would expect some blood from the mouth too. Either way I agree with the 5-6 hour assessment if you want to get the meat.

He is dead. Liver and diaphragm for sure. Maybe some lung depending on angle. He will bleed out in a couple hours after the shot I bet.

Pretty sure the OP said the deer moved 50 yards.....he wasn't 50 yards away. Said he ranged him at 96.

On a side note, those saying the meat is no good in the morning I'd beg to give it the old smell test first. Twice now I've accepted deer from guys who thought the meat was bad after a warm night on the ground, was not the case at all.
