Going from Plano to Midland will be a big shock I'm sure, I was in Odessa for several years, only good thing about being out there is I met my wife. Other than that I could care less about going back.

Everyone seems to be leaving for Midland. I don't get it personally. There is zero stability in the oilfield. Then moving to the middle of nowhere or worse yet working weeks away from your family. No thanks i'll keep my 8-5/ M-F..... But i guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

I lived there for 2 years. I would never move back unless I absolutely had to. I think it sucks. There is not much to do and nothing close by.

If the money is that good I would commute. I would not have my family there. I have friends on federal task force and say it's a awesome place to work but not raise a family

They do have a new religion there. I believe they are the crystal Methodist!

Originally from Ft. Worth, I lived in Midland most of the 80's, and liked a lot of things about it. Moved there at the tail end of the big late 70's-early 80's oil boom.

Reading these posts, it sounds like Midland is still favored over Odessa, but may have lost some of the overall appeal that I got to experience.

These last few years really changed it... I was born and raised there.

Lol... so it's better to live in the areas of no money, since there are no crime or drugs in those parts?
