This could be, since it's in bathroom.

as an unwritten rule the hots are usually in the same opening of the box and the light is in an opening by itself .

if its a double or triple box the hot wires are stabbed in the middle openings of the box

After looking at the instructions for the new switch it said it must have a ground to work. The old one didn't have ground. In the back of the box behind the wires was 3 stripped wires wrapped around each other. Assuming that was ground, I hooked it to the ground screw and worked fine. I knew it was something simple just couldn't find it. I blame the whiskey!

That's her problem, she's the one who wanted to change the switches...

At least today she was home when I was doing this so had her flipping the breaker so I didn't have to go up and down the stairs so much!
