I'm not real smart so I lean to broadheads with no moving parts, my compound bow is really too complicated too. I should shoot a recurve, but I'm too uncoordinated to hit anything.
I agree with you sir. That's one of the best dogs I've ever had. Had a blue tick before the Plott hound and he was awesome too.

Recurve would be cool to try one day. It would be fun to target shoot with one for sure.

To the knowledgeable bow masters.... I'm a little nervous about shooting one of these new Trypans as well. I just got a Creed, pulling 70#, 30" draw and a 320 grain arrow. numbers look good on paper, but don't feel like this thing has a whole lot of "punch". Just for re-assurance, yaw think I should be ok with this broadhead?

Like a hot knife through butter.

But just curious why you are shooting such a light arrow? Actually that's under the 5 grains per pound of draw weight that is typically accepted as standard.

I haven't bought a new bow since 2011 but seems like I remember some bow companies would not warranty damage from shooting ultralight arrows.

To put your mind at ease, I shoot a 60#, 30" Elite GT500 with 400 grain arrows and Rage blows right through every deer and most pigs I've shot. And they are quite devastating. This was shot with a Rage Extreme out of that bow.

Thanks Mike D. Gets me thinking about my choice of such a light arrow now... I was concerned about loosing speed, didn't think about the rest...

Shot an axis doe with one back in June. She mad made it about 60 yards. Exit hole was awesome. Shot out of a tripod so exit wound is lower. Awesome blood trail. I like them.

Get you a goldtip velocity. 300 spine is 8.8 gpi not to light not too heavy , I have a creed at 65 lbs 28.5" draw 406 gr 29" arrow at 269 fps. You'd be a little heavier than what I have but I'd think you'd be going faster than me as well. This will fix your not enough punch problem

How'd the trypan hold up after going through the leg?

The point was solid and held up well. The blades are thicker on the tripans. It had 1 side that was chipped a little.

This is a pig I shot two weeks ago. He was ~180-200# boar. I am pulling 72# @ 30". The hog didn't make it 30 yards. I shot him at ~15 yards. BIG ENTRANCE hole and no exit. The Trypan did its job and I couldn't be happier. It did have damage though but when I dissected the hog, it went through every bone it hit with a 2" hole!! Here is the damaged head but for what it's worth, I will use these again for sure!!

We sling arrows at animals to do damage and large 2-blade mechanicals bring it.
                          Love the pics.

They get good reviews and seem to be solidly built. Bump up to 400 grains or so and you'll get the "thump"
                              And a quieter bow [emoji4]
