probably o ring not seated correctly. It's kind of a b**** to screw it on and keep the o ring seated correctly. The sensor on the bottom is just a WIF sensor so it doesn't matter if its hooked up or not. Now the sensor is plastic and can wear over time and lose a good seal. I've taken them off on both duramax's I've owned and replaced with a billet cap. Also could be the bleed screw on top of the housing. I also replace those with billet screws.

Hopefully it's not the filter head (I had one go bad at about 250k miles), but it's not hard to rebuild them.

I've had two instances of the same shop screwing up a filter change. both times it was the main o ring for thew filter. I just change it myself now to make sure it's done right.

Try to prime it . If the pump is not tight it's probably the filter . Bleed air too if you can

I had that issue with my 15 duramax at 95, and some change. It turned out to be a bad fuel rail. At least that's what I was told. 15 hour labor but it was covered.

I had an '05 Duramax. I showed the same issues as above... returned to the shop where I have my oil/fuel filter work done to have them look it over as it had only been a week on the new filter. This time I got a new crew, and after looking it over, they found a crack in the piece the fuel filter screwed into and it needed to be replaced.

          Just a thought.
