need ideas on 2 55gallon barrels welded together for deer feeder.

Looking to make a couple to save on trips to the lease 4 hours away. Anyone have any or have ideas or pics on how I should do it? (Quad belly band) or make a sled for it to sit in?

I welded two barrels on top of each other one time. It was a son of a gun to feel up with 8 ft legs!!!!! Buy you a stand and fill 600 pounder and save your self the trouble of all that. Thank me later.

Don't weld one on top of another. I have one and it's a pain in the ***. I used it for one season and bought a all seasons feeder.

Why not just run two feeders side by side? Set one timer for mornings only. The other for evenings only. If one quits working, your not out of luck. You could also alternate days of the week with timers if you have the right type. You could still run one game cam on both if set up right.

We did it with 2 set ups & it worked out ok

They are tall to fill & your leg brackets need to be strong

            Good luck

If you're going to do it, you better be a decent welder with mad skills. I've tried to get my welding shop to do it, but they declined as those barrels are real easy to blow holes in.

One thing I recommend is cutting the lip off the bottom of the top barrel and off the top of the bottom one. Then pounding the edge out to flare it out a bit so it'll lap over the bottom barrel.

              Clear as mud?

I would try to find an 85 gallon drum instead of stacking 2 55's. The post above about getting a 600# stand and fill is what I would do if I did not use the 85 gallon drum.

I'm very happy with my 85 gallon barrel, and it does cut down on trips to keep it full.

85 gallon barrel set up as a stand & fill unit works great.

Of you do weld them up, leave the bottom in the top one and make large holes in it. It'll reinforce the middle and stop feed bags from dropping to the bottom.(don't ask how I know)
