From one of my fishing trips this spring. Two separate batches of channel catfish. Not bragging but I have caught loads and loads of channel cats over the years. The OP's picture is definitely a channel cat also.

Information about the Yellow Bullhead (Ameiurus natalis), a species found in the State of Texas

        vs.
Information about the Flathead Catfish (Pylodictis olivaris), a species found in the State of Texas

After seeing the second set of pics, I agree on channel cat.

Flatheads are not mudcats by the way. That's a Texas thing.

Mudcat... the ones I've caught were in non flowing creeks or stagnant water pits

                Mudcats are pollywogs.
                Yellow cats are flat heads.

And the op's is a channel.

Must be an Austin thing. Down here in S. Texas pollywogs are baby frogs.
