Grieving for my dog

I looked throughout and found him laying up in some bushes panting heavily but would not respond to any of my calls or words. I knew it was terribly wrong. I brought him in the house and laid him down on a blanket under the AC and sat vigil there with my other dog for several hours. Once the vet could get us in I took him up there with my wife and assisted in his departure from this life and ours. Vet said he had a mass on his spleen that had ruptured and filled his abdomen this blood which was fatal. I had raised this dog since he was a puppy and he meant the world to me. We buried him on our ranch on a canyon overlook. I wouldn't think grieving for a dog would be this intense but it is. Anyway just wanted to share. We lost our male White Shepard the same way a little over 2 years ago...I think it's called Hemangiosarcoma. He was only 9 and he went from fine to not fine really fast and quite unexpectedly. You never know how much those animals mean to you until they're gone...I still miss mine and think about him a lot.
