Snakes have been extremely irritated since Trump got elected. It's his fault.

But like all wild creatures they are cyclical. We have had several years of drought which negatively impacted flora and fauna. Rains return, vegetation returns, low level food chain species increase, their predators numbers will follow
      Cottontail/coyote cycle is well documented.

Maybe it has something to do with you whacking 7 of them?

We have a small child that likes to play in the yard. So we have a zero snake policy right close to the house. It seems a new one would show up a day or so after killing another one. My next closest neighbor is little more than half mile away with woods between us. I doubt 7 dead copperheads put that big a dent in the populations.

Snakes have feelings to. They feel pain from shotgun blasts and shovels. Ya'll leave them alone.

No problem with your policy here.

I've killed a few cottonmouths over the years. One year I killed one on Saturday and again on Sunday during teal season. They were about 6 feet from each other and I didn't see anymore in that little area the rest of the year. Maybe you were able to dent the population...

This is not lost on me.

I rewound the teaser for the news story last night to see if my wife would notice. The cameras were panning down his leg showing the bites and then got to his foot, and she was saying, "Ouch! I hate snakes . . . what the?!?"

Lots of articles about snake bites seeing huge increases all across the country. Georgia and SC seeing 50% more. I know in Colorado we have had an increase of snake bites/encounters along the front range resulting in a ton of news coverage lately.

Got hit by a copperhead a number of years back... full envenomation, no antivenom, just laid in the hospital completely out of it for about a week. The slightest blade of grass can brush my ankle now and I will levitate, scream like a 5yr old girl, and release my own "ink cloud" much like an octopus....
