He's a man! Most men don't get into stuff like that. Bet you if you really need something he'll be there in a heart beat.

Okay I'm going to give a little insight that not many people will have the experience to give.
I have 5 kids, 3 of them have now had babies, 8 babies to be exact. Now my youngest daughter is due in 6 weeks. Because my wife has been super excited with the first few we rushed off and drove hours to be there when they were born.
I was never all that keen about rushing off and spending hours at a hospital out of town with everyone else crammed in, to get a short glimpse of a new born. I'd rather wait until everything settles down and is more normal and they are at home to get to spend some quality time with everyone.
When my last two grandkids were born that's exactly what we did and it was sooooo much nicer, more relaxed and meaningful. My kids now agree, now that they've gotten past all the hoopla and the recent tradition of everyone rushing to see the new born in the hospital.
By the way, I also do not go to any, I mean any of the showers. No baby showers, couples showers, wedding showers, none of it and I'm not going to keep up with all the new celebrations that keep being dreamed up every few years. Oh I forgot, gender reveal. Geeez!
So maybe this is just a small glimpse into the logical way your Dad is thinking. I think you should give him the credit and respect to do what he feels makes since to him and you do what you feel is best for you, your wife and your baby.

I can say that I really don't feel the need to sit at the hospital for the birth of my grandkids. I understand dad and mom have to be there but the whole going up there, sitting around being bored and sore from just sitting there is ridiculous. After the kid pops out I'll come and see it and visit. Especially the first one. For us it took two days and was a very boring and miserable experience for me.
