Call Chris at Family RV in Sweetwater. He will shoot straight and is a no B.S. kinda guy. Just bought a 5th wheel toy hauler from him and he was great.

We rv more than most and had bumper pull, now have a gas motorhome and my next will be a diesel pusher. I bought mine at best pre owned rv in houston. Just Google best pre owned rv and they should come up. The specialize in pre owned pushers.

We bought our MH from a private seller on RVtrader.com. Got it for about 1/3 less than the NADA price.

We just sold ours last week. If I were to buy another bus I would buy the same thing. With that being said, I probably won't buy another. It is not something you just get in and drive to the corner store. So if you go to say Yellowstone, you have to have a vehicle to hop around in, a tow behind. Well that near completely excludes you from hauling a boat. I really don't want to travel if I cant yank some fish lips. There are double deck trailers and other options but none are easy.

I used to be freaked out about hotels. I finally got over my phobia and realize it is nice to walk into a hotel and leave a mess. A hotel doesn't need 105 pounds of air pressure in the tires, a $150 oil change, a $150 air filter or a $750 switch for the generator I paid a week before I sold the bus..

I would really look at the weights of the ultra light fifth wheels with aluminum framing and composite sides. Quality load range E tires, air bags and a good brake controller, I think your f150 would do fine in the southern part of the country. Only thing on the ultra lights, well they are ultralight and tend to skimp on axles etc.

Can only recommend to stay away from Crossroads products and would recommend Forest River or Coachmen parent companies.

The buying experience is semi easy. The owning is a little different! Dealer service during the first year is a joke.

Tell you what, I will cut you a deal on this one. It is a bumper pull, I think your F150 can handle it. Just needs a little TLC.

Lots of people like dealing with lazy days.

I'd probably cut off my own toes with a rusty knife, before I bought from one of these dealers in Texas.

I do enjoy wasting their time though.....

Fleetwood pace arrow has a design I really like that can be had for a decent price.

It's a 38' pusher - my friends just bought one.

When I bought ours, I got online with the wholesalers to get a price point. They charge approximately $2000 to ship it here. I went into dealer and told them that price, they came in a $1200 over. My BIL just did it and saved $10000 from what the dealer were asking originally.

I'm completely lost now and I own a 30' bumper pull camper. What is a diesel pusher? Are we talking about a bus or what?

Hey QB...the diesel pusher is simply a motor home with the diesel engine, located at the rear of the unit.

update: my wife and I sat on the porch with the coffee before I had to go to work discussing our purchase. After reading the GS responses and sharing with Susan, at least for now we are going to wait and maybe not even buy either option. After two intense days of looking, my knees are shot from the steps and another BS experience with one of the dealers just this morning from yesterday!!! I know there are great dealers and great deals but we sure have not found it yet AND been looking off and on for several months.

Looks like for now we are going to save our $$ and take the easy road with the truck. Oh well, thanks for all the opinions and advice all.....puts it in a different perspective for us at least. Kuma...

Also have you looked at the diesel super C? Still get the diesel but less than a pusher. Might be a good option for your first.

I agree with this. When you start getting 30' +, that's quite a bit of trailer (even an ultralight) to be doing regular and longer distance hauling. Specifically, the tongue weight is alot on a half ton. It'll be pretty rough on your truck. With the options you're giving, and with what you're wanting to do, I'd go with the pusher for sure if it's in the budget to do so. Just my .02, Sir. Good luck with your choice and be sure to show us what you end up buying.

What's everyone's opinion on the <40' vs >40' Class A units? We rented a 34' because it's supposed to be more accessible in all RV parks. However, it was VERY easy to navigate...so don't think I would have a problem with a slightly larger RV.

                              Pros and Cons on size?

Good choice. Unless you are going and staying 30-60 days at a time, it is hard to justify the expense of a RV. Even if you are staying long term, there are many deals that can be made on VRDO, or similar sites. RV sites have got about as high as a hotel, and higher if you account for fuel and RV expenses. Enjoy your travels and talk to RVers along the way.
