Jennifer and I split our time between home and the farm, so I'll give both.
Porter/New Caney: Rusty Buckle BBQ. Great BBQ and on Friday and Saturday serves the best CFS I've ever had. Jalapeno Lemonade is awesome.
Woodville: Pickett House. They have no menu and only serves the same thing everyday. Fried Chicken, dumplins, greens, beans, mashed taters, biscuits and cornbread and peach cobbler. All you can eat.
Colmesneil: Burger House. Outstanding Burger.
Oh good Lord!!! Sell my clothes, I've gone to heaven!! That sounds like it'd be worth the drive over there just to eat at that joint!! When I was a kid, there was a place right where the highway crossed the Dam B reservoir... I think it's called Steinhagen lake or something like that now... but anyway just before you crossed the lake on the left was a place called Johnny and Jack's... My folks never ate out... we ate at home or at camp, but they'd always stop there and eat, and as I recall, it was also that kind of place, 'cause you just went in and fixed your own plate... That has to have been 60 years ago tho...

Yes sir , Allen serves up the best ribeye CFS and BBQ very good as well.
There’s an old 50s drive in in Graham called KN Root Beer. I’m not a huge root beer guy, but they have their own, and a frozen mug of it with a scoop of blue bell vanilla is CRAAAAZY GOOD! Burgers are excellent, as well. I have not tried the CFS, but I’ve seen it and it looks excellent.

Oh man, another trip down memory lane!! We had Frostie Root Beer stands when I was a kid in East Texas... 'course there was no Blue Bell (that I know of) back then (50's-60's)... But a Frostie Root Beer Float was about the best thing a kid could have back then!!
Casa Torres is pretty good in Decatur, I need to try Sweety Pies again.
if you want to change it up a little, go to the Mexican food store/taqueria across from Lowe’s, I think it’s called Las Delicias…and get an asada burrito!
I used to go in that store and get their marinated tablitas for the grill. Haven't done that in awhile. May have to visit them and try that burrito.
And I can't believe I forgot Casa Torres. I haven't been there in a while and I like it a lot. I need to get over there soon. Thanks for the reminder!
In Hallettsville we mostly eat at home! Jalisco’s is ok but that other big name one north of town on 77 tried to kill us last year . We liked their food before that happened and have tried to give them several more chances but the quality is definitely suffering .
Corinth doesn’t have much. Wing Daddy’s is actually pretty good. Daughter likes their chicken and waffles. Don Camillos for Italian and Angelina’s for Mexican are both good as well. Most of the time we drive to Denton to eat out.
In Newark, Texas there's a relatively new BBQ joint that is really good. Local Craft BBQ. A little pricey, but generous portions. Meats are top notch. The owner was the pit master at 407 BBQ previously.
In Boyd there are a couple of places worth mentioning. Dos Chiles Tex-Mex is pretty good. Small place, that is a little noisy, but good food. Go-Go Gumbo is really good as well.

I have heard that local craft is really good! It’s actually in Newark, Tx. Supposedly the smoking windmill or something like that is really good. It’s off of 114 West bound on the north side of the road. Not quite to Boyd and maybe just a little out of Aurora, Tx.

Smokin Windmill changed hands and name, I doubt it’s there much longer.
