Same here, I put an irrigation valve box over the cover of the tank. Only 4-5 inches of soil over the top. Get some coat hangers out and see what happens.

I had to do this to my ' new to me' property. If no cleanout then prove close to the house, esp. Outside of the main bathroom, when you hit pipe dog it up and see which way it's headed, the pothole in that direction, if you don't hit it dig potholes in each cardinal direction from the last located pipe. Took me 2 weeks while working but I found the tank finally. I did archaeology work for a few years that where I learned the 'lateral' trick

Alot of the plugs in the tops of the tanks, have a piece of looped rebar for a handle, so a metal detector might work as well.
