    Finding a Septic System

Ok so my wife and I bought our house in October and was never told were the septic system was. It was not in the house plans and was not in the county or city records. Also we were told that it is a standard system that has a drain field. With all the rain we have had and it being a short period living there I cannot even identify where the the general area of it.

That being said we cannot find a spot where they would be able to suck the crud out of the unit. Would a septic company have a way of finding it, like a special tool or something? We are wanting to find this out because with this house being a foreclosure means the people before did not always take care of the place and there is no telling when it was drained.

The guy I had come out 2 years ago had a stainless rod with a pointed end and would stick it in the gound to probe around until he hit the tank. Now if its a fiberglass tank be careful not to hit it too hard and go through the top of ot.

With the back yard being a little over half an acre I am not sure I want to spend my day out back looking like a crazy person stabbing the ground Lol! Also would anyone be able to suggest a good septic company in Burleson?

I was going to suggest using a prod also. The tank shouldn't be too far from the house. If you're not having septic issues why do you want it emptied now? Better safe than sorry? I get that.

Call Burleson Septic. I have used them before.

The grass is always greener over the septic system

Any cleanouts visible around the house? That should help point out the drain line. Any spots that look more brown as in the grass? (Like the size of the tank)

Thats how we see it there are no prevalent issues and it is just the two of us in the house and we try to fallow the septic rules but the former family lived there for about 4 years. So we have no clue if they had it done or not.

We have had to much rain to tell. Our grass is a constant color all though.

                    None that we can find.

Have you asked the previous owners if they know where the tanks are or even the owners before them?

You might try the county they may have a record of it if it was inspected?

If you have to find it with a prod I'd start around 10 ft out from the kitchen and/or bathrooms.

Was not able to ask the neighbors because of the foreclosure no one had lived in the house for almost 8 months. We called the county, turns out our neighbor works in that section of the county office, and they could not find it.

I started at the clean out...probed to find the direction of the pipe...went about 30 feet, and it turned some...the 20 feet and tank. 2 500 gal. concrete tanks.

When you find the tank install risers on the clean out. My clean out is level with the lawn and simple to get to..
