    Fishing lake Georgetown?

Been taking my kayak out. Can't catch a thing lol. Been throwing a 5" watermelon red senko. Any tips? Bought some shad looking stuff. Any areas to try? I'm a hunter. Not a fisherman. But I'm trying haha. I know we have a bunch of TBHers in the area.

That's out of the way for me so I don't know that lake at all. But, it doesn't look like a bad lake:

I primarily fish for largemouth bass and only catch and release (with LMB only). I would look for cover, structure, weedbeds, etc. I also throw frogs all day and catch majority of them on the top water frog (Boo-Yah Pad Crasher)

According to the link above, that lake is awesome for sand/white bass. Just got to find where they are schooling and you'll be catching them like crazy. Hope you have a fish finder on your kayak. It would make things a lot easier though you may have to cover a lot of water to find them. For sand bass, we use this http://www.bomberlures.com/product/slab-spoon/ and do pretty dang well with these. Good luck man!

Last thing, gear also plays an important role as well.

Fish the top where the river comes in. I have had good luck up there.

You can put in at the LCRA camp. The name escapes me right now.

Tejas Park. Not LCRA, it is Army Corps.

I keep meaning to push from cedar breaks and hike to there. I'll check it out!! Thank you. Think it's an 11 mile hike. Fairly rough stuff in cedar breaks.

No fish finder. I'll eventually get one. I have good rods and reels. 7' Abu Garcia veritas 2.0 MH with shimano caenan reels. Plenty for my rookie self. Thank you for the info. I'm targeting large mouth. I do have some ribbit top toads. No luck with those. Yet. Any tips for using them? I try to throw around socks and brush piles. Coves. Etc.

Have you tried red watermelon senko?

Throw a 1/4 or 1/2oz rattle trap in chrome. If you catch a few on this in the same general area go back to your senko.

outside of the swimming area there is a creek channel that runs from 12 to 20ft, usually some good fish there

I've not used those. I throw the booyah frogs exclusively and use at least 50lb braid. For frogs, just remember to let them take it before setting the hook. A lure that has been dynamite for me lately is the chatterbait with a small trailer. On a kayak, you can get to places boats cannot. You can also check out Greg Blanchards YouTube channel. He gives some tips and he throws a lot of frogs and chatterbait as well.

From looking at the map on Google, id hit the dam with senkos or chatterbait or head northwest to that stream. I fish a lake around here that is similar and I do fairly well.

The locals call it The Dead Sea. I will never launch my boat there again. Make the run over to Travis. You can thank me later.
