I haven't killed a deer in a few years, so I haven't eaten venison in that long. But when I do kill, I eat every bit I can cut from it. I grind very little venison as I love the steaks, roasts and any other cuts I can get my hands on. I guess if I killed several a year, I would grind some, but when I get lucky enough to kill one, I just cut it into steaks, roasts and some stew meat. I even save the ribs unless its a tiny deer.

Why is that? Plenty of uses spaghetti, tacos etc. my family prefers it over beef in that case. Now grilled ..give me beef.

I have donated to a local fella that used it to feed some people in need. That is always an option.

For sure. I use ground for burgers, enchiladas, spaghetti, tostadas, chili, meatloaf. It's how others in my family prefer to consume the meat. I don't get why that's looked down upon.

Yup.... there are so many things to add grind to for folks that like some variety.

My wife does not care for it much but the rest of the family eats it fine. I tend to make most of it into jerky....other then the backstraps and tenderloins.

We eat it all and love it! I'd say 80% of our diet is wild game and fresh caught fish.

Curious what your grind mix is at. 80 percent venison to 20 percent beef? Or?

Yes, unless someone is wanting the backstraps.

As many tenderized cutlets as I can get. Then, sausage and hamburger.

Backstraps for stuffing and grilling, shoulder and hind quarter for roasts. Rest hamburger and summer sausage.
                        Not a jerky fan.

Our top thing is making hamburger patties, then freeze them individually. roughly 70% deer, 20% wild hog, 10% good prime beef steak fat. Get when HEB runs a prime ribeye sale.

But also use ground for everything above.. Even makes great veggie/ground venison soups.
