They are density dependent breeders, the fewer their are the bigger their litters get. In the near term an empty territory will invite more animals to come from surrounding areas to fill the void.
That's what I've always heard. Coyotes and armadillos arrived up here from the southwest at around the same time decades ago. We still have plenty of deer, but armadillos are annoying!

Near Stockdale. Yes they killed a fawn and that is its head. I am fairly certain that the doe the fawn belonged to wandered back and forth in front of another trail cam.
I listened to a podcast with Dan florez and he was saying this..pretty interesting the calls they do are a roll call and effect litter size.
He claims the more you try and get rid of them the more they spread and reproduce

Yep, if you have a specific animal that has learned to raid a hen house or prey on young goats it makes sense to take that animal out. But outright extermination isn't going to happen from shooting them.
