Probably very true about green sunfish, but this is definitely a warmouth.

Just to clarify: I'm not saying you didn't have a problem with warmouth, but your post seemed to imply the one in the OP's pic is a green sunfish.

100 % warmouth...goggle eyes or green sunfish are a different species. They can hybrid out though

Warmouth live with the crappie in the lakes and rivers. The green sunfish or goggle eyes are usually what shows up in your tank or pond by accident!

That's a warmouth and it's different than a rock bass. Both may be called a google eye but that's a warmouth. We called rock bass goggle eye growing up.



Despite a passing, superficial similarity in appearance, the warmouth should not be confused with its distant relative the rock bass.


Kinda like when people call a crappie a white perch. You may call it that locally but a white crappie is not a white perch.

Also a loggerhead turtle is not an alligator snapping turtle.
