    Those warmouths are meaty little fish and taste every bit as good as a crappie.
    The only problem is they don't get nearly big enough. I would love to catch some one pounders.
    We used to call em Calico Bass as a kid.

      Yep they were fun to catch as kids. We'd catch some in the creek while camping and fry them up. We always called them goggle-eyed perch.

              Looks like I stand corrected by you and a couple others. The body structure and red "ear" resemble the green sunfish. Like I said, I thought it was colored different than I have seen. Guess this explains why.
