    Accordingly to a Herp on the site "What kind of snake is this North Texas" on FB, it is a Coachwhip. Was this in Hitchcock?

          Cool looking coach whip! Weve caught 2 in the last week at the plant, but they have both been dark, almost black, with a deep red tail and markings.

            Wow. Never seen a snake with that coloration. It does look fake.

              Yep coachwhip, I've seen a few colored like that, i think it's kind of a pre-shed color phase, they don't seem to stay that way for very long. Haven't done any scientific type study on it just from what I've observed from snakes being found in an area on a regular basis.
