    Snake Identification

Guys, I have lived in SE Texas my whole life and never seen one of these. It's not poisonous but I have no idea what it is. Can you help?

Got me on that one. I've never seen that color pattern before. It's a cool looking snake though

Never seen any snake like that

            In for ID

Looked fake to me, like one of those wooden, segmented toys until I blew it up.

Thought you were messing with people

Well, I think you are correct. It appears that the coach whip actually varies in color and this one is an extremely unique one.

Yeah most that I catch are all tan with light markings but I've caught a few tan ones with bands that were almost white. I've also seen some that had a purple color to them. None that I've caught here have been like that but over East a few hours from where I live I've seen some that looked similar to that one. Seen one in New Mexico a few days ago that was really bright. Looked purple or a sandy red color with white bands but of course I didn't get to see it for very long. Pretty cool lookin critters.

I like to see them but I don't go out of my way to catch them very often. They like to bite too much. Not just bite you on the hands but if you grab them by the tail they like to try to bite you on the face.
