Has anyone had an in ground pool removed from their backyard? From what I have seen, they scoop up all the concrete and haul it off. Fill in with dirt. Then put sod on top.

usually the only time you go to the expense to bust up the whole thing and haul it off is if you are going to pour a slab and build over it
Anyone know the price range for this in Dallas area? With easy access of equipment to the pool.

Wow! That would b fun if the mosquitoes didn't take over.
Good luck on your project of tearing it down.

I demoed my own pool. Rent a Bobcat with a hydraulic breaker. Drain the pool. I used a jackhammer to bust some holes in the bottom so it does not float up on you. Bust up the decking and push it into the pool shell. Get some fill dirt and use the Bobcat to build a ramp into the pool for the Bobcat. Bust the sidewalls down at least 18" and preferably 3'. Cut or bend over the rebar. Complete the backfill and sod. Pat your yourself on the back and spend your extra money on something you enjoy.

Depending on the city, yes, there are codes and yes, it can get expensive. If you can do it yourself great but many cities will require everything including the plumbing removed professionally and disposed of. I sell REO's all over the country and have see it cost as little as 2000 and as much as a new pool.
