      It's open 365 days a year, 4 fish limit

I had planned on going with my brother in law, but since the federal season is only 3 days this year, I don't know if I'll be able to make it.

I'm sure he is referring to the Federal season.

Maybe I should have been more specific... Is anyone going out during the 3 day Federal season? I am out.

3 days? Seriously? This is getting ( even more ) stupid.

I was curious as to the advantages of federal waters. I've never been so I couldn't say. I only go out when invited and use someone else's gear, so I'm not real knowledgeable.

I'm going to monitor the weather and, if either of the three days have the right conditions, I will run out and snag a couple fish. You never know what the conditions are going to be though. Last year the first few days were two rough for my boat. This past Saturday would have been fine. I did a trial run and made 30+ mph running out. I went about 9 miles, hit a wreck and a few platforms. Lots of spadefish around and a few 12" snapper. Saw some sheephead and drum on the platforms. No triggers were around. State water snapper are always more miss than hit for me. Find 100' of water and I always seem to get snapper though.

Catching snapper in state waters year round is easier than you think
You have to be smarter than the animal you're hunting

3 day season seems silly for any species, but who knows.

Commercial fishing has bought out the system

We just got back from gulf shores , fishing with a guide who was a bit upset.

It's so blatantly obvious what the commercial fishermen are doing, and the Feds just turn their back
