Running a new gas line to outdoor grill

I need some help. I bought a house with a grill that already had a gas line run to it from the meter. About a year later the gas line developed a leak. I had a plumber come out and since the gas line either runs under the garage or the pool decking it was going to cost about 4K to replace. If I move the grill to the other side of the pool and make a small slab to mount it on it makes it about 26' and a straight shot from the meter. I have done all kind of handy man projects but never anything that had to do with a gas line. I had a plumber tell me it would still be $1,500 to run the line. I don't know the in's and out's of a running a gas line, but it sounds a little steep. Any advice?

    That seems way high.

check the city codes and make sure it does not require an inspection and permit. if not run the pipe and pump test it then tie it in with a cutoff to isolate that line by the meter and bbq away!

That is way high. Buy the parts and do it yourself.

i ran my own gas line in my old house from my gas fireplace to my stove, because I wanted a gas stove. now, I had a basement so it was really easy to access, but it cost me about 75$ to run it 25 feet. pretty dang simple if you ask me.

Get rid of the gas grill and buy a propane grill with propane accessories

Here we have to use " green pipe" to bury it. They make a tape we have to tape the 90 s with. It has to be at least 18 inches jn the ground. And now i think you have to bury a wire with our i t also, locator.

In your plumbers defense $1500 isn't bad to permit it, trench, do the installation, leak test, meet inspector, and cover trench. There are quite a few hours of labor involved.

That is absolutely not a high price for a licensed plumber to do that job.

Most people we give estimates to end up just going with a propane grill and deal with the bottles.
