Dumb question, but I assume racing fuel is not ore mixed? This sounds like a good option. Also, does anyone else find that their chainsaws do not seem to run as hot when running Tru-Fuel. That's all I have put in my saws last two years and when mist that stuff sat for 6 mths when I was on my hike the saws started right up when I returned....except it seems to me the fuel does not have enough octane?

The race fuel is just a high octane ethanol free fuel, no oil.
I add the oil in the can they fill at the store.

The salesperson told me the race fuel is also of a higher spec than regular pump gas - not sure how true that is, but it's what I was told.

I've had several pieces of equipment go in for maintenance because of ethanol. I started running tru fuel etc pre mixed stuff at 20$ a gallon, and my stuff has ran great then started buying ethanol free from a Murphys gas station and my stuff started running like crap again my echo equipment loves vp and echo pretty mix fuel

Yea, but it's all relative since that corn farmer used to get paid NOT to plant the corn, and the corn he did plant was about a third of what it is now...

I guess I'm not sure what your referencing as far as planting a third of what it is... Corn production has really stayed fairly constant. I've said it in other threads and I'll say it here. I don't think corn ethanol is necessarily the answer to renewable energy. But I sure as heck know that leaning back on fossil fuels until we find some magical renewable energy is even less effective. It takes research, and to fund research there needs to be a market. I'd suspect government subsidy dollars don't touch the amount of dollars companies like Dupont spend researching renewable fuel. This isn't fun for an o&g economy like you guys have, but one day you'll need to adapt whether you like it or not, unless they figure out a way to burn fossil fuels cleaner and grow them in a quarter section with a pivot every year.

Haven't had an issue with my stihl chain saws or trimmers running it, I use mostly premium gas though.i think the oil additive has a stabilizer in it from stihl. These are at least 8 to ten years old.

My next trimmer and blower will be electric. With run times of 45-60 minutes it is time to throw away the gas can.

Hopefully one day the subsidies which are now in the form of tax breaks will run out and when and if it does ethanol will be no more since it costs more to produce than it sells for. I have read it takes up to 6 gallons of water to produce one gallon of ethanol. That can't be profitable. Also the energy it takes to produce a gallon of corn likker is more than the product. It's all a big ponzi scheme IMO.

Yup. Right up there with "wind energy"... If the subsidies dried up, that industry would be gone in 30 days...

I have been running it exclusively for the last four years in all of our chainsaws, pole saws, string trimmers, t post driver....

Everything still starts up quick, and I've had ZERO carb problems.

Once again, the subsidies aren't designed to simply grow wind energy or ethanol. They are to encourage research. They want advancement. I know this is a bad word if you live off of oil in an oil based economy. These are stepping stones to a final solution. Fossil fuels are sure as hell not the final solution. Ethanol probably isn't either. Wind energy probably isn't either. But they are both closer to fossil fuel as far as environmental impact.

I don't know but a lot of them wind farms are owned by the Germans and French. Roscoe Tx wind farm is owned by E. Con out of Germany. The ones on my lease in Sterling County were built by a French company. I sure hope we ain't giving them any subsidy $$$.

Ok so my Homelite leaf blower can't be fixed. Too old to buy parts for.
My Ryobi power head is up and running strong again so I just bought one of the Jet Blower attachments for it and a quart of that premix. Spent about the same as I would on a new carb for the ole blower.
This thing works real good and moves a lot of air without too much noise.

This is what I use unless I know I will be running my saw a lot .
