We have Rise now and are in the process of kicking DirecTV to the curb, over the curb and down the mountain. We run netflix and hulu now. Our internet is blazing fast now. My cellular telephones go through the wifi so now we have cell service in the house. It also came with a telephone, analog that uses wifi, go figure. I couldn't be happier. THe two times times I called them I got through real fast and had really good customer services. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Here's what my research today has yielded.

Zulu is guaranteed 6mbps for $79/month, no contract ($250 equip fee)
Rise is UP TO 20mbps for $49/month, 2 year contract, $75 install fee

So what I'm hearing is that Rise puts a thing on the tower that has a speed of 20mbps and it's shared between whoever happens to be beaming off that tower. You may very well get 20mbps at 2 am but you also might not get enough mbps to stream a youtube video at 7 pm when all your neighbors are home and using your shared speed.

I'm still tempted to try Rise if there's a way to get out of the contract and cancel in the first 30 days if it's terrible. Of course all the reviews of their customer service sort of makes that a risky proposition.

I was told if they are beaming from one reciever to the next, the speed goes way down. I had a 6o foot tower installed. He said there was a direct line of site to the water tower in town where the output signal is coming from. My stuff is screaming fast. I watch netflix and we have never had a streaming issue.

Problem solved!! 903Broadband (903bb.com) has a 10mbps plan for $60 and if that's not fast enough a 20mbps plan for $70. Talked to them today, great customer service so far and I'd much rather give my money to the local folks! I'll let ya'll know how the surfing is once they set me up next week. Thanks for all the help green screen :-)

We have Rise... beware... We switched from another provider and were using an average of 80Gb per month of data to now using 300Gb with Rise... I told them their equipment is screwy as we were never even close to that with our last provider and their response was that someone must be stealing our wifi... but if you can figure out our Wi-Fi password, you're a genius... that said, they did lower our price in half and double our data allowance to make me happy... speed isn't bad. Husband works from home and only rarely has connection issues during the day. Often after 5pm though, things slow down...

I was about to mention 903. I've heard positive things about them, and will be looking for a provider in the future when I build my house in Blue Ridge.
I do have a co-worker that has Rise and he loves it. Mentioned that he streams movies all the time with no buffering issues. He lives around Farmersville.

Not sure how to find out who is on your local tower.
X2, not great at first but I guess they got their issues resolved.

Goodness, this rural internet is expensive!!!

In Tyler with Suddenlink, I'm getting 200mbps down with unlimited data for $60/mo

RUN. Way too many users. I can plain as day see their towers and service was horrible after they bought out whoever American internet. There was no signal to speak of for a long time. Techs are good people but the call center is a joke.
