Rise Broadband and how do I find out what's on that tower?

Strongly considering switching to Rise Broadband... Thoughts? So far I'm not impressed. I called yesterday to get pricing/options. I sat on hold for about 10 minutes then went with the option of them calling me back. So far, over 12 hours later I have not received a call. I guess they don't want my business very badly.

Also, there's a cell tower within a mile of my house. Is there any way to find out exactly which companies have devices on the tower so I can explore all my options?

I know Zulu is an option and is on that tower but it doesn't look very fast for the cost.

Any suggestions are much appreciated. I'm located in Fannin County.

I have Rise Broadband and it is awful. The service basically shuts down at 4pm on weekdays and doesn't work on weekends. I have called way too many times and they always say there are too many people on my tower.

They raised their pricing two months in a row about 6 months ago for no reason.

Their customer service is hard to get in touch with. They seem to never be there outside of normal business hours.

If you need a service call, it is usually 2 weeks out.

    I warned you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Run away.

Rise came to our house, saw it was two stories and honestly couldn't find a tech that would climb up to find a signal. They tried from the back porch roof and that was it. We went with Cirra then only got 12mps so we went with Nextlink and get 49 down on average. My wife works from home and needs good speeds.

I used to have Texas Communications, they were awesome and cheap. They sold to blue rhino? or something like that price went up and service got worse. They sold to Rise price went up again and service got worse again. I've been shopping around trying to find another better internet provider. Not many options out in rural west texas. I would not go with Rise, outages all the time for a couple days customer service is bad and the keep creeping the price up on you.

Nextlink does not cover my area but just out of curiosity and if you don't mind me asking, do you know what you pay for that kind of speed?

I have Rise and it's far and away the best provider in our area, even more reliable than wired DSL. Consistently get 70% of available bandwidth, our dsl, delivered 10%, & 30% on good days. I personally have experienced good customer service and haven't had any billing issues.

Not sure how to find out who is on your local tower.

It's pricey but my wife's work reimburses us for it. I think it's $160. I guess I should have pointed out that it was the highest tier of residential service they sell to get those speeds. Cirra was supposed to be 30mps down but couldn't do better than 12-15 (always around 12 for us). They were considerably less expensive though.

I'm being offered 6mbps for $79/month. Trying to figure out if there are other options but at the moment I'm afraid it's that or Rise.

I have them too and they suck. They bought the other company I was with and that's how I ended up with them.

I live NW of Denton and have also had good experiences with there customers service and service in general. Compared to the other companies in our area they are very reasonably priced. We have the 20 meg package and can watch Netflix/YouTube on 3 devices at one time.

That's how we ended up with Rise as well.

There are times the tower we are pointed at has so many people on it that we get less than 150 kbps download speed in the evening. That's only slightly better than dial up speeds. I made multiple social media posts and phone calls to the company and finally received a 50% credit for a few months. THye have a few areas in Texas that have LTE speed but they achieved those throguh some kind of government program that paid for the equipment. I don't look for them to spend their own money to make that available in many palces if they won't even add a couple towers in areas they have so many customers that none of them can get close to the speed they are paying for.

If you have a strong cell signal at your house and plan on using wi-fi, you may better off looking into a hotspot through your cell provider. That makes it mobile too.

                          Good luck.

I've used www.cellreception.com to find who owns towers.
