    Reclaim/remedy mixing??

Ok guys I'm a newbie. I posted a couple weeks ago about the land I bought having an old pasture with about 20 acres of mesquite overgrowth. Y'all recommended shredding it first and then spraying. So I got it all shredded this weekend. I put 20 hours on the new tractor.

I just got a helluva deal on remedy and reclaim. Like a ridiculous deal. So how do I mix and spray this stuff? Some of the mesquite I shredded was 1.5-2 inches in diameter, but most was under 1".

Right now all I have is a 15 gallon fimco sprayer for my mule and a backpack sprayer.

If you are spraying the leftover stumps, with Remedy, go with a 17% mixture of Remedy and diesel. Over the last 10 years, I have been killing lots of Black Locust with Remedy. I got cheap one year, and let my mix go to 15%. I got about a 75% kill rate, which means I wasted my time. No need to go over an 18% mix, then you are wasting Remedy.

I have never used Reclaim, so I can't help you there.

That's partially what I will be doing. But there's thousands of stumps now. It was thick! Should I spray now before there's no growth or wait till they start sprouting and just spray the entire field with a boom type sprayer?

Search the web for "brush busters" and you will find a website with info on mixes and spraying. Only spray (if doing foliar spraying) when leaves are dark green as leaves are feeding back to roots then. In North Texas that is usually starting end of June. If it rains don't spray for next two weeks. Always have to be feeding back to roots.

If you have mowed them down you may want to spray the stems but probably will not get a root kill.

This. Remedy with diesel right on the stumps.

Spray now since they've been cut.

Ok I am having a monumental brain fart here. How many gallons would 17% of a 25-gallon sprayer equal?

                25 x .17=4.25

May I ask what diameter are these stumps and how many? Did you cut them flush to the ground? If you can paint the top of the stump with Remedy /diesel mix it may work out better. Remember that over spray will kill everything around that stump for a long time. If you don't care about the twenty acres gaining new vegetation this year then spray.
On Prickly Pears I do spray them and they will start to leak out after three weeks. I usually shred them after the third week and spray the root with the Remedy mix. I have never had them come back.

So what is the mixing ratio when using remedy and reclaim vs just remedy?

Radar. I shredded about 20 acres of THICK overgrowth. It's an old pasture that hasn't been planted in at least 8 years. It just got overrun with mesquite. There's thousands of stumps now about 4-5 inches tall. Some 2-3 " diameter. I was thinking about borrowing a book type sprayer and pulling it behind my mule and just sprayin everything. I don't care about killing it all this year as long as the mesquite don't come back.

I feel like an idiot now.

Well, not so fast... If you use those ratios, you won't have enough room in your tank...

adding 4+gallons of Remedy to 10 gallons of diesel is over 14 gallons... You got a 10 gallon tank... need to work on the math a bit more...

You need to calculate it so that the total volume of diesel + Remedy is 10 gallons (or a bit less.)

Got to do it by smaller volume then add...
                              1 gallon = 128 ounces
                              .17 X 128 = 21.76 ounces/gallon

total volume = 10 gallons or 1280 ounces. Of that .17 is Remedy that means you got 217.6 ounces of Remedy or 1.7 gallons. So you need 8.3 gallons of diesel and 1.7 gallons of Remedy to give you a 17% solution in 10 gallons...
