I put out trophy rocks (mineral rocks) and protein blocks. We had a lease member put out the white salt blocks and nothing, not even the cattle touched them

Trophy rock is mostly salt. Save yourself some $$ and get the hard red American Stockman trace mineral block from TS. Mostly salt too, but much cheaper. I don't kid myself that I'm helping the deer, but I get some good velvet pics, and it's not hurting them. It's the block in the foreground, not the crumbly one.

The trace mineral block is close to 97% + salt. It has less than 3 % combined of all the minerals. It's not necessary to use an additional salt block. We actually use loose mineral in the cattle industry. I also dig a small trench and apply loose mineral where the blocks use to be to get the deer started on it. Very hard to get them started on loose mineral but the will use it where the old salt blocks where b/c they r using it as a natural salt lick. Try to find a loose mineral with less phosphorus so it's not so bitter to them.
